Why Does My Kitten or Cat Need Vaccines?
Kittens and Cats, much like humans, are susceptible to contracting harmful infections and diseases from the environment around them. It is therefore important to get them vaccinated from 8 weeks of age. Kittens will naturally have protection from their mothers, but a second vaccination ensures their annual protection once this natural protection wears off.
It is then important to give your cat an annual booster vaccination to keep them protected, and able to live a happy and healthy life.
Vaccinations can protect kittens and cats against:
- Feline Enteritis
- Feline Chlamydophila
- Feline Leukaemia Virus
- Cat Flu
If you have an indoor cat, this does not mean you should avoid vaccinations; they are just as important for indoor cats.
How Often Does My Cat Need A Vaccination?
From 8 weeks old, your kitten can have their first vaccination, followed by a second booster three weeks later. It is then important to keep up with your cats’ vaccinations every year.
