Prescriptions are available from this practice. You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines Veterinary, (POM-Vs) from your veterinary surgeon OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy. Written prescriptions will incur an administrative fee which can be provided on request. Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe POM-Vs only for animals under their care (this means they have had a veterinary examination within the previous 12 months).
Please allow 5 working days between submitting your medication request and collecting the medication. Please allow 7 working days for controlled drugs requests. You will be notified by text/call when your prescription is ready (doesn’t apply to all practices)
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons requires us to carry out a clinical assessment when prescribing repeat medications, and this may require us to examine your pet, especially when prescribing antibiotics or controlled drugs.
You may obtain relevant veterinary medicinal products from your veterinary surgeon or ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy.
Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe relevant veterinary medicinal products only following a clinical assessment of a pet under their care.
A prescription may not be appropriate if your pet is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.
You will be informed on request of the price of any medicine that may be prescribed for your pet.
The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescription for / supplies of relevant veterinary medicinal products a least every six months. but this may vary with individual circumstances
The standard charge for a re-examination is £47.
