Prescriptions are available from this practice. You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines Veterinary, (POM-Vs) from your veterinary surgeon OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy. Written prescriptions will incur an administrative fee which can be provided on request. Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe POM-Vs only for animals under their care (this means they have had a veterinary examination within the previous 12 months).
Please allow 5 working days between submitting your medication request and collecting the medication. Please allow 7 working days for controlled drugs requests. You will be notified by text/call when your prescription is ready (doesn’t apply to all practices)
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons requires us to carry out a clinical assessment when prescribing repeat medications, and this may require us to examine your pet, especially when prescribing antibiotics or controlled drugs.
A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary. You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be dispensed for your animal. The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions every 6 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances. The standard charge for a re-examination consultation is currently £35.52. Further information on the prices of medicines is available on request.
