Macarena grew up in Malaga on the south coast of Spain. She graduated from the University of Cordoba in 2010 then studied for her Masters in medicine, health, and animal breeding.​

Macarena moved to England in 2012 to undertake her internship at Davies Veterinary Specialists, before moving north and working in general practice ever since.​

Her main interests are in surgery and feline medicine, and she is currently working towards her Certificate in Feline Medicine.​

In her spare time, Macarena enjoys climbing, hiking, and spinning. She has a very loved cat called Coco who she adopted from the RSCPA after being hand reared by one of the inspectors!
