Dog Neutering and Cat Neutering
Elective neutering of male cats and dogs (castration) and females (spaying) is one of the most common veterinary procedures performed.
The advantages of pet neutering include:
- Preventing unwanted pregnancies
- Reducing or even stopping hypersexual behaviour
- Preventing aggressive behaviours against other males
- Preventing male cats spraying urine
- Reduces the tendency for pets to stray or roam
Castration is a relatively simple procedure carried out on a day patient basis so your pet can go home the same day. Whilst the recovery time varies between individuals, usually animals are bright and well the day after surgery and can return to normal exercise within 7-10 days.
Spaying is the process of neutering female cats or dogs; both their uterus and ovaries are removed. In most cases, your pet can come home the same day.
